That was interesting. I searched for ‘libertarian’ to see if there were any more, and there ended up being quite a few anti-libertarian sentiments as well. It annoys me how ignorant and stubborn some people are.

What? They’re funny sometimes, thats more than I can say about any modern hipster leftist I’ve met. What would you say the Onion epitomizes?
It’s not about being funny or not (though I personally don’t find it funny); Communist Russia produced some amazing cinema, music, etc; I just think cracked has that urban leftist humour and outlook that is prevalent in the culture. The Onion might fall into that category too, they seem to fall into the same “pop” trends I think, but I don’t pay that much attention to “The Onion” to know. There by coincidence just happened to be a three month period of my life where Cracked was prevalent.
Yeah, I still have no idea what urban leftist humour is or how it differs from non-leftist humour, non-urban humour, I’ll have to research this.
I don’t think there is anything to really research, it’s just from my personal experiences and just a way I categorized something. As far as Cracked is concerned, I kept noticing them with a left lean in their articles as well as portraying the “culture” I spoke of.

By research I just meant read a bunch of Cracked articles. I’ll keep a look out for leftism.

And while I’m white and a little overweight, I don’t eat Apple Jacks or Mountain Dew, and I’ve never spent ANY time playing online games, much less magical fantasy ones. I’m an IT guy, but just never got into those.
The 2 that immediately spring to mind are one about conspiracy theory and one about the presidential candidates running in 2008.
A theme in comedy in this style when it gets political and tries to make fun of both sides “equally”: The right is dumb, evil, crazy and 100% wrong in almost every respect while the left is ineffective against the right or doesn’t implement a policy correctly or scientifically enough. Sometimes the new left will make fun of hippies to seem “balanced”. That is my experience with political comedy geared towards twenty-somethings anyway.
I think Cracked isn’t quite so much “hipster leftist” as much as “casual IT man-humour”. It’s pseudo-adolescent, oh-look-swords-and-mammaries kind of stuff that’s symptomatic among modern video game magazines and “men”'s humor. Heck, even LRC has it’s contingent of manboys, with all this “Manly Man’s Guide To Manliness” stuff that’s been popping up in the last few months. The Onion is pretty much the South Park of satirical newspapers, pretty much roundly making some no-holds-barred fun out of every ideology under the sun, with a good dash of cultural references.
That is a good point and probably a bit more accurate description than “hipster leftist” (though both seem to love pop culture references), and stands out more than the political slant, but I still think it takes the IT humour and swings it a bit to the left. The Onion I can’t comment on as I don’t know it that well, South Park just seems flat out libertarian without being too preachy about it.
Granted, I’m speaking from a relatively limited perspective. I browse Cracked mainly for articles on weird toys, subcultures and things from Japan. The only political article I read was the rant on homosexual marriage, which was so badly argued I felt like putting my head through the wall afterwards. To me, their political persuasions are as consequential as the voting choices of the cast of Jackass or the makers of YouTube Poop, so I don’t tend to bother going through the yahoos and trolls that infest most large comment spaces, nor to check for rants on obscure American political scandals like whether the Governor of Minnesota is a donkey. Not that obscure political scandals are a bad thing, just a matter of taste for me.

The most extreme free-market thinkers believe that the economy is best run without any rules, intervention, guidelines, or rationality. These people are known as Libertarians. Consumer protection laws? Don’t need em. Minimum wage? For suckers! Equal pay acts? HA!

Libertarians believe so dogmatically in their philosophy that they will staunchly disregard any argument of reason that contradicts their baby. Basically, they’re the suicide bombers of economic thinking.
