Is there a way to download the various audio files (http://mises.org/media.aspx) on to my iPod rather than listening to them online? I subscribe to the podcasts but there is so much media avaiable that I would love to listen to on my iPod. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
Are you on a Windows PC?
Yes, at work, but I have an iMac at home.
I have no idea how to use a Mac, but in windows you should be able to right click (save target as, save as etc.) on the media title and download the MP3. How you get that onto your iPOD is someone else’s best guess. I’m a super nerdy luddite and all of this new tech is over my head. Gimme notepad, Firefox and a mail client, and that’s all I use on a computer.
Look for this icon,
Thanks! I saved it and can import it into iTunes from there.
Long time lurker, first time poster. I had the same question, except how can I download the video files.
I am having trouble with streaming the video files (.asf), and it would be much easier for me if there was some way to download them and watch them on my own time just as you can do with all the audio files.
I’m not able to find any streaming videos. I did a quick look and all the videos I found where .WMV that prompted a download.
Could you link to any of the .asf?
If you’re looking for a way to download the embedded youtube videos on LRC, realplayer can do it.
If you don’t already have it, VLC Player is pretty much platform independant & pretty much plays anything you throw at it. I usually use VLC Player at work since I’m too lazy to bother running a live cd of Linux or trying to “hack” myself a user account on the windows pc.
I also recommend using VLC player to play quicktime files, as whenever I’ve used a Mac, Quicktime always managed to be either slow or just not work for some reason.
Alas, if you used Linux I would recommend Amarok as an Itunes alternative, although since you’re using a mac, I’d guess you’d use Itunes anyways :D.
I just got this one off of the homepage, right under the “Media” heading:
http://mises.org:88/OneLesson_7
I click on the link, it leads me to a page with the video on it, and it begins streaming. I can’t find a way to download the video.
If it would help, I am on Ubuntu 8.04 and mplayer is the video player that plays the video.
If you are using Firefox (or swiftfox, iceweasel etc.), try right clicking & looking at the media info for the page; sometimes you can download the videos this way. Either that, or look at the source code & get your hands dirty trying to find a source url :|.
This should be a direct link to the file:
If you really want to go straight to the source, it’s all here: http://media.mises.org/
I was planning on doing that if everything else failed.
I right click save as, but it saves the thing as a small 183 kb html file.
Thank you thank you, I will look through this. ![]()
The mises audio book podcast is confusing. I wish they’d just put the audiobooks in the audiobook category and miscellaneous media in the podcast. Can this be done independently, or does lvmi have to do it themselves?

This worked perfectly, thank you!!!
Yeah, it’s cause you cant = in a file name.

Better?
I’ll have to test that later (I am not at my computer right now), but getting the direct links through the link above was much much better. Thank you everyone for your help.
