There has been. Luckily we have people like the father of one of the victims to support liberty like did he here.
I read a statement from some democrat congressmember earlier today that we need more restrictions on inflamatory speech as well because of this. Talk about never letting a perfectly good tragedy go to waste. She even said that the FCC obviously was failing because of crimes like this.
Yeah, I read that here actually! I can’t believe what politicians get away with saying/doing these days.
Turns out Loghner may have been influenced by those Zeitgeist people.
What’s the evidence that he was every a pro-Glenn Beck, Pro-Palin, anti-government right winger?
there isnt any evidence that he was a proGlenn Beck, pro Palin anti government right winger… in fact, people have interviewed one of his friends and he says that the shooter was not political at all
In my original post, the link to his Facebook page shows all of those people, but I half-assumed at the time that it was fake since he only had two friends. Now he has zero, though, so I’m almost 100% that it’s not a real Facebook page. He was anti-government, but the idiot was a lunatic escapist/nihilist; in that way, he was kind of just anti-everything.
He wasn’t. But get ready for this.
He did not watch television (like most of us here).
He did not bother with mainstream media (like most of us here).
He frequented not a few conspiracy theory sites. (like a good number of us here)
He preferred relatively more niche and underground subsets of thinking (in some ways, but not exactly, like us), and thus possessed Marx, Rand,.etc.
And most of all, he does not seem to be a part of any partisan group, and seems to view most major partisan groups of public debate with skepticism. Which also makes him uncomfortably close to us.
So I can only be a little glad that he is being labelled as a Beck/Palin-loving Tea Partier, even though he is clearly not. Else MSM would have started blaming CounterPunch, Alex Jones, InformationClearingHouse,.etc as the broad group responsible for stirring up crazies. Look on the bright side, all of us got away scott free.
Unlike most of us, he was also a stark-raving schizophrenic who could no longer appreciate the difference between reality and dreaming.
That’s sort of a problem no matter what your political views are.
@Brian… Well also the kid is criticized by mainstream media as being a pro maxist and a pro-Hitler supporter… when i first heard the news actually report that, I was confused. How can someone be a Marxist and a neo-nazi? for one who uses common sense, that cannot happen, its like saying that someone could be a ‘Rothbardian-Keynesian’, it just doesnt make sense. The mainstream is just trying so hard to make this kid look bad, the dude was just mental, end of story.
Isaac, Werner Sombart was a Marxist and a Nazi.
(He was a minority also, and probably just trying to make sure to fit in with the academic and political establishment, but it’s possible)
Well there is debate about that… But even if he was a nazi, Nazism before Hitler was different than Nazism during and after Hitler, he was atleast not a Hitler supporter. Hitler hated Sombart’s book, Humanistic Anthropology, so much that he banned it in Germany because it criticized and didnt support Hiter’s views.
That’s interesting. Is there any timeline as to who got shot first or at whom Laughner initial aimed? Also, how did Laughner know that the judge would be there? (Perhaps the judge was persuaded to go to the event just like Kennedy was persuaded to go to L.B.J., Texas.)
Also, why hasn’t footage of the shooting been released? (It’s not like politicians don’t take cameras to their pep rallies.)
There’s no information of which I’m yet aware. I only looked around for a bit because I had to leave somewhere. The police supposedly haven’t released that yet. I don’t know why/how.
Some of the comments suggest he was called a few hours before the event on short notice, and the event was only a few blocks away from where he lived, so there’s really no way he could say no to that. I’m not sure of their source, though, so I can’t say it’s not an exaggerated fact on their part.
Yeah, exactly. That goes along with your first point. I’m hoping someone was filming the event and that they’re waiting for a false statement by police. That would be the best case scenario to show something is going on, but who knows. I don’t really understand the whole thing about Obama signing the executive order regarding 401Ks and other retirement funds. Every website I visited seemingly received its information from Fox News or Media Matters.
Here are some details on the shooting.
The article makes it seem as if the Judge stood there while everyone else got shot and did move until the guy next to him got shot.
