Can someone tell me, precisely, what the planks of the Libertarian Party’s platform are, so that evaluation of it’s merits may be possible? Without a rigorously defined platform, there can only be nebulous chatter about the party. The two major parties, that have legal advantages throughout the law, have each evolved to become vague and nebulous, facilitating the dumbing down of the electorate, with the help of the controlled media by the single faction that has captured both such parties. Call it the big-money faction. The libertarian party doesn’t have to take a position on everything, but, rather, only on a number of core planks. Beyond that is the world of action …
I am not a spokesman for the libertarian party, but lets just start a conversation and see if other more informed members join in.
So libertarians believe you should be left alone to do whatever you please, as long as it does not harm or encroach on the property or freedom (liberty) of another.
So by this definition, no libertarian, whether they get elected to a position of power or not, can impose their view of “what needs to be done” on another.
If they get elected, their job would be to dismantle the restraints on individual liberty one by one, and let the cards fall where they may.
To an outsider that has been trained to look for a “rigorously defined platform” and canned answers to particular scenarios, this philosophy may seem like nebulous chatter.
But inherent in the definition of liberty is the fact that there are millions of differing opinions of how to respond to life and nobody has the right to declare his way superior to the other provided it doesn’t impact on freedom or liberty.
