Stumbled upon this, and read the first few pages and conclusion. I’m not convinced of it’s “counter arguments”, so to speak.
On page 3.
“At the same time, most of the rest of the world was forced to practice free trade through colonialism”
Colonialism? Imperial powers put tarriffs to control their colonial empires, and he says they practiced free trade? Really? After they prevented domestic industries of colonies from selling within their own territory through tarriffs and refused to allow them to sell to their own country?
Either way, the man uses the word “neoliberalism” a lot in his writings, which is standard ad hominem of neo-Marxists (see what I did there?) and Third World anti-imperialists against any perceived Western policy which is seen as a zero-sum attack on the poor world. This is a political article, not one of economics.
