The reformed version of Obamacare

So can anyone tell me what this would entail? What would be wrong with it? Because I was talking with my Grandfather about this, and apparently the implementation of a new Middle Class tax is incorrect. I read an article about this a couple months ago, but apparently some of it has changed since the bill has changed dramatically. However, this is not all.

From what I gather the bill would NOW:

-Subsidize Community Health Care

-Force Insurance companies to dump %85 of their revenue into the system

-Require all Business’ to provide health insurance to employees. Otherwise receive subsidies if its proven they can’t afford it.

Where exactly is there supposed to be new taxes? It seems to me that is just Republican Propaganda and myths.

Where will the subsidies come from?

Where exactly is there supposed to be new taxes? It seems to me that is just Republican Propaganda and myths.

You yourself just listed the taxes. Let’s go through them one by one:

-Subsidize Community Health Care. The first lesson this site teaches is that money doesn’t grow on trees. The gov’t doesn’t have any money to give to Mr A [which is what “subsidize” means] until they take it from Mr B first. So of course a new tax will have to be imposed to pay for this one.

-Force Insurance companies to dump %85 of their revenue into the system__. In other words, taxing the insurance companies [on top of what they already pay in taxes] at the rate of 85%. Don’t be surprised if they all go out of business.__

-Require all Business’ to provide health insurance to employees.A tax on business.

Otherwise receive subsidies if its proven they can’t afford it. Our old friend subsidies again.

Four taxes so far. There’s more as well, starting immediately, even though the health benefits, such as they are, won’t begin for 4 more years.

My source for this last is an indirect though usually reliable one:

I’m not kidding about this either. This is because all the Statists and Liberals are angry for the years of being denied insurance for profit. So they want them to dump all this excessive money they are earning and spending on Private Jets into Charity for people’s health care expenses and to maintain a living.

So pretty much the only thing insurance will cover in the next generation are Pre-Existing Conditions. You cannot be denied for pre-existing conditions.

Also I’m a bit worried myself, me and my two younger siblings got kicked off our health care plan. I no longer get my psychotics for my illness, and my immune system.

Omg… so if me and my friends pooled our resources together in a fraternal insurance agreement, and year after year, our nest-egg built up equity, we would be taxed for 85% of what we had saved?

I really don’t want to own an insurance company now. Unless its the government’s. Yeah!

Even if there’s a tax increase there won’t be enough money to pay for the latest “my-teenager-daughter-with-a-stolen-credit-card” spending spree. Remember that US government expenditures are all going through the roof. Foreign aids have increased, military spending has increased… even if your administration found a way to impose a new tax without driving people and/or businesses over the border there simply wouldn’t be enough money to even keep up present deficit levels.

I expect Mr Bernanke to find a new way to deal with all this debt since options are running out.

From what I understand the gov has three ways to get money : Borrow [which no one will reply to, since they don’t want to throw good money after bad], Steal [meaning taxes, which as you say will crush us all, and more important, create mass popular unrest and thus loss of elections] or Swindle [print money].

So printing money is their only option, and everyone is assuming that’s what’s gonna happen. Hello hyperinflation.

I just had this argument with my Grandpa who is a Liberal. He is for this reform and argued that its because insurance companies were making money they don’t NEED off of denying people plans or making them pay for a plan and then suddenly dropping them. Instead I think this revenue will be used toward subsidies and funding the system. With a rate of %85 Insurance Companies will need a more fiscal budget, and will have to accept people, and cut down on Private Jets and the CEO’s salary. “Its called helping people” as my liberal Poli Sci teacher says, “something this ‘free market’ doesn’t seem to grasp”.

As, he would say “People before profits”.

Well no one forces you to get insurance from a greedy capitalist pig. You could always form your own insurance with your close family or church or something… Wait no you CAN’T because insurance regulation prevents you from doing so. Derp.

Yeah I know that if 85% of my income were taken away I would have to be REALLY efficient. Or I would just not work. I mean this is an 85% tax and no one wants an 85% tax rate…

Okay, well no one is stopping you from being helpful. If insurance is so bad you should make your own insurance company that doesn’t screw people over. With this good idea people should flock to you, and you’ll make tons of money which you can use to be a bleeding heart liberal with. Its a win on all levels. You don’t need to force everyone into your health care program for it to work.

If you ever win an argument let us know… so far you are losing to old people and poli sci teachers at community colleges. I dont mean to be such a jerk about it, its just like >come on<.

My logic and background information is horrible. Can I improve it in any way? I can’t ****ing argue economics for shit.

In the U.S.A. they first came for the health insurance companies,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t with the company.

Then they came for the…

Lmao win!

Ok, so now there are several points that need to be made here.

  1. The reason that profit margins are so damn high is because THE GOVERNMENT controls who can enter in the insurance industry, restricts it in many watys, and helps to make it a cartel on insurance. Most companies tend to have thier profit margins slip down to extremly low margins when they are not restricted.

  2. The government stops individuals from poolin resources together in a mutualist manner as happened earlier in American history.

  3. The state has been regulating many areas of healthcare for decades, and in every case with the AMA, FDA, Medicare, Medicade, and regulating insurance it as caused prices to rise.

  4. There is absolutly no reason to believe that the healthcare bill which is eventually passed will not have the public option which will bankrupt the nation, and WILL result in higher taxes.

  5. The regulations will mean that everyone who has pre existing conditions will sign up to the highest coverage, and everyone else will sign up to the lowest coverage and then just switch to higher coverage when it is needed.

  6. The free market is merley voluntary action, there is NOTHING stopping individuals in a free market from helping medically every individual in the world under a free market system.

This is pretty much all you could ever want to know about healthcare, all incredible material.
