Its not even a new idea. Its just the same old shit. He is just recycling the thoughts of other egalitarians, there was not a single statement in that whole video that I have not heard before in one form or another.
I am so tired of egalitarians, humanists, and environementalists pushing their value codes on me. Its like they don’t even care that they haven’t even attempted to show that their ideals are the “right” ones. I have a hard enough time justifying why I “shoudn’t” kill other human beings, much less putting value on things like forests or hamburgers. Maybe they should hand out their platonic tablets of objective value so the rest of us can get with the picture and support the new democracy (dictatorship).
I think its safe to say that this is just another guy who totally doesn’t understand what the market is and does… And individual people do help to decide the price genius, indeed they are the only acceptable ones.
If he doesn’t like the price that someone else offers for the good that THEY produced, then maybe he should go somewhere else or make his own things, instead of convincing everyone to steal it.
I finally got to see the full episode. Colbert and the guest were throwing around “free market” and “capitalism” like they actually existed anywhere. groan
The guy’s premise was completely faulty but he gets his $14.99 a book so what does he care?
I just saw his little youtube video and couldn’t help sighing and rolling my eyes. Especially what he says about people being happiest when everything is owned in common… hasn’t he heard of the tragedy of the commons? And free-market fundamentalists? I just don’t know where to begin.
WHAT?! Does this guy know how democracy functions?
I hate it when the mainstream causes an automatic reaction in people with “democracy-> good” and “anarchy-> bad” and terms like that. Such propaganda throwing around “real democracy” as if it’s some amazing thing just makes me gag.
