well look, i don’t mind that you have a differing opinion to mine about the sentiment and message of the film. Thats fine, but i would rather you didn’t go putting words into my mouth. I expected none of these things listed above, nor would these things have impressed me. I actually like the germans quite alot[:)]. If you think that i’m wrong in my interpretation of the film then i respect that, and i have no intention of trying to change your opinion. You certainly fell a long way short of changing mine. As an interesting footnote i’d like to add that our argument is over the standpoint of the film, not where we individually stand on the
progressivist meme that dominates the US,
For i can assure you that if i agreed with you on this i probably would have liked the film, given that it was probably the best made film i have seen in a very long time.
Upton Sincliar was a socialist, and much of his work was socialist propaganda. Here are some of the chapter descriptions from Wikipedia of his book “Oil!”, which There Will Be Blood was based on…
“The University” – Bunny enrolls in Southern Pacific University, where his ideas of social justice evolve further as he meets free-thinking professors such as Dan Irving.
“The Rebel” – Bunny becomes increasingly involved with various socialist and radical students, including Rachel Menzies, against the background of the Red Scare.
“The Vacation” – Bunny goes back east with Vee and Dad, ostensibly to take care of some business matters, but in reality so that Roscoe can have a free hand to crush the oil workers’ movement.
“The Dedication” – Bunny decides to dedicate his life and his inheritance to social justice;
And the “riding of into the sunset” ending…
“The Honeymoon” - Bunny marries Rachel Menzies and they dedicate themselves to establishing a socialist institution of learning;
But at least Sinclair’s oil tycoon was only a swindler. As far as I can tell, it was the Cohen brothers who turned him into a murderous sociopath for their movie. But that’s par for the course for the entertainment industry. As Thomas DiLorenzo wrote in his excellent book “How Capitalism Saved America”:

No Country for Old Men is among my favourite movies ever, there are so many nuances in that movie, every time I watch I note something new. And Chirguh main gun is actually a shotgun, not the cattle gun. Actually he just kills one guy with the cattle gun, 2 with a pistol , 1 guy with a sub-machine gun and a lot with his silenced shotgun.
I know it’s hard for a lot of people to grasp No Country, since it’s rather chaotic and apparently random in quick glance, while Blood has a lot of symbolic scenes that makes it easier to draw a lesson (specially the end).
