He allegedly created the term “Libertarianism” and although he was a communist and didn’t believed in private property he also rejected the principles of the marxist state and any other kind of authority.
I ask because Im sick of socialists claiming ownership over the word “Libertarianism”.
How dare they prevent us from using that term! They forestall our use of the word for our own purposes just like a capitalist prevents the worker from using their private property for their own purpose! [:P]
It is correct and accurate. No one until Rothbard called himself a libertarian and/or anarchist unless he was a communist.
Mises himself specifically denounced anarchists for their communism.
My opinion is nothing is gained trying to remake the meaning of words. It’s much easier to make up new ones. (Which is what the anarchists did making up the word libertarian.)
What’s the problem with decentralised collectivists? If there’s no coercion, the collectivisation is voluntary. If you insist individual ownership is the only way to prosper, let the market determine the winner! (If we ever get the chance)
