Back of the Bus: Mass transit, race, and inequality

After the entire program describes the failures of central planning and government it closes with a few soundbites about how we need housing programs, low income housing, so that cities won’t be subject to market forces, which they say would result in a 21st century form of segregation. this is absolutely absurd. The only reasons it would lead to that are if there are no business oppurtunities and there are arbitrary barriers to entry in certain businesses based on race. Even if some people had to move out of the city, wouldn’t that be a good thing?

A professor of mine once characterized FDR’s farm policies as a form of free-market (or maybe capitalist) waste -maybe he holds a difference b/t free market and capitalism? In any case though it seemed a lot like he was criticizing the free-market for a part of the New Deal.

Just because something can be linked to capitalism doesn’t make it capitalist -or else welfare and minimum wages and public schools would be capitalistic too.
