Where are all of the socialists?

I thought that this financial crisis would attract all sorts of socialists here in the USA.

It seems that people are more rational and aren’t jumping the gun on capitalism right away. I would have thought that the socialist party would have at least gotten quite a few TV advertisements about capitalism and why they think it’s faulty to get people riled up.

Where are they? What can a financial crisis be without socialists?

Oh they’re here. They just call themselves “Democrats”

I’m a Democrat myself but I’m not a socialist.

You have to wonder… when will all these Democrats realize that if you take away economic freedom you aren’t free? These people are like “OMG you have to give to the group” I’m like what if I don’t want to?

I like all the liberal ideas but I just dislike how they would want the government to do everything for the people… some people have unrealistic expectations.

They are all working in congress and the white house. I guess you have missed every part of the stimulus package.

Is this democratic-socialism or is it just a big power grab that they can argue is justifiable in a time of crisis? Aren’t they one in the same?

I can’t wait for the gov’t to just start buying up all the houses for everyone, after they own all the big banks and the big 3 automakers. I should just give the gov’t all my savings now because in the future we won’t be needing - the then - worthless money.

Like socialism. So yes, you are a socialist.

double post

I like them but I realize that they don’t work in reality. So, I realize that much liberal thought is completely unrealistic.

Where are they? I thought more and more people would be into socialism now… then I would have more fun arguing with them.

The only socialists I’ve seen are psuedo-socialists just bashing capitalism because they hate people having money.

So, where are they?

Liberalism is a broad class of political philosophies that considers individual liberty and equality to be the most important political goals.[1]

state socialism is not compatible with liberalism

If you are a Democrat, or Republican for that matter, then you are not a friend of freedom, justice, progress, etc.

I was a Democrat, then a Republican then I have no political party as the are just gangs that control the force of government under the auspices of large financial institutions.

The best show of the year was seeing banking CEOs in a show of weakness that should win an Oscar cowtow to a bunch of legislators whom they control.

Just because I am affiliated with one party or the other doesn’t mean that I support them.

I registered Democrat as a principle registration because I believe in some of the ideas that the Democratic party has traditionally believed in (with regards to foreign policy, war, and that Democrats are usually anti-death penalty).

I’m not going to vote for either party during the upcoming midterm… so don’t take me as a fool just because I registered Democrat.

Hell, I can’t leave the Republican Party. I can not stop getting their mailings.

On Campus.

Then they’re real socialists.

The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate the man who is better off than you are. Never under any circumstances admit that his success may be due to his own efforts, to the productive contribution he has made to the whole community. Always attribute his success to the exploitation, the cheating, the more or less open robbery of others. Never under any circumstances admit that your own failure may be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be due to his own defects – his laziness, incompetence, improvidence, or stupidity.

Henry Hazlitt

You aren’t seeing real radical state-socialists and Marxists (as opposed to social democrats and state-capitalists), because they often call for the revolutionary abolition of the system. They are a threat to the system.

You’re abolutely correct; the teacher’s assistant who leads my political economy class discussion seriously said that the instution of property only emerged 50-70 years before Marx.
