This defense is based in very popular ignorance. You can debate the validity of the war but frankly japan started it so any talk of how immoral the war in the pacific was is ridiculous(european theater might be different) and the idea that firebombing and nukeing japan was needless killing is based in blindness. If Japan was not bombed we wouldnt be talking tens of thousands or tens of millions of japanese killed, it would have been all of them evry single man woman and child was preparing to fight in the event of a assult and every single one would have been killed Japan would have ceased to exist as a culture.
yes war killing innocents is not a war against the real aggressors (whoever they are). i thought japan was fighting a defensive war against the U.S. having something to do with oil and their culture being threatened whether true or not I’m not sure. States love propaganda on both sides of the demarcation line. Killing somebody without a weapon in their hands and labeling them as a Japanese or U.S. nationalist is stereotyping without particular facts of the individuals.
I never really figured out why or how the justification for bombing civilians came about as a military strategy in wwII however regarding japan there were really no civilians, japan was 100% mobilized. To vastly understate it bombing/nukeing japanese citys was a tragety but the alternative was even worse.
I agree. Not killing people is definitely worse. But you appear uneducated.
Japan offered the U.S. government terms of surrender. The U.S. government rejected the terms, then nuked Japan, then accepted the original terms. But that is OK, you go on living in your propaganda filled world of fear.
Yeah, and the Vietnamese fired first. And Saddam has WMDs. You need to learn some history son.
You’re perfect for the military. They are looking for people willing to kill for a “greater good” argument. Doesn’t matter if it is women or children. Doesn’t matter if it is civilians.
I don’t have time for someone who justifies mass murder.
yes japan knew that if they wanted to forcefully take chinas oil rubber and other resources americans were befriending china, thus the attack. The idea was to cripple the us long enough for the to secure thier chinese interests.
as previously stated the alternate choice was invasion and the destruction of the japanese.I think the japanese would agree this would be worse
yes they offered america terms of surrender right after pearl harbor but thats about it. we pleaded peace or they would face a new terrible wepon, they denied, saw what a nuke was like, refused again, third time agreed.
The “Allies” were completely unreasonable. There was no need to kill thousands of innocent people. But you have revealed yourself to be the sicko that you are. You obviously like to kill people, without cause. You are a neo-con, nothing else.
You call the ‘unequal treaties’ befriending? Fascinating.
Actually the Japanese were very much growing tired of the war itself. There were mixed emotions towards the US coming to Japan for their surrender, some jumped off cliffs, others thought that the Americans would rape all their women, and yet there were others who welcomed the Americans and the end to war.
Bear witness to the bodies of those whom you say ‘too bad’ too. Burned alive due to the firebombing of Tokyo. No doubt a child is somewhere among the charred remains. And no doubt at least ONE of these people attacked us if you are so delusional to think that the people are always the government and the government actions are always in the positive interest of the citizens.
and propaganda mobilized women into the factories in the U.S. - it’s all about self-defense on all sides once the bombs drop and the guns fire bullets. Dissents, depending on the atmosphere of the culture, are silenced or ignored to a certain degree (even Wilson during World War One locked up U.S. citizens that spoke out against that war). Hardly room for civil-disobedience (the truth of the disobedience is another topic).
