It would seem that our Austrian heroes are not as extreme as the Tea Party nor certainly even close to the Socialists (uhm, duh). Rather, they see how freer markets and individual perogative can move things to a better state of things. However, there is a role for keeping doors open, the electricity on and propping up the ceiling from coming down in the meantime. What goes on in the rooms makes things better; not leveling all the buildings. Where would the market take place if the market place were made into condos?
That said, sometimes government itself can free us up from government hegemony – through efficiently designed statutes. Take for example, routine decisions that are made after expensive litigation – expensive for the government (court) as well as for the parties in dispute. If those routine decisions almost monotonically have the same result, then why have the court in the first place? A law would save us all money, and we can get back to spotting and exploiting opportunities.
Probably not the right crowd for this shallow analysis.
