Why am I stupid enough to work?

So I was reading article on the homepage about the implicit marginal tax rate and I think I got the message. Down at the bottom of the article it list all kinds of benefits I could get if I were just a little bit poorer. If I were take a $8,000 a year pay cut I would be in the right range to receive about $27,800 in benefits. Since the Constitution guarantees me food stamps, section 8, Medicaid etc why exactly do I work?

Or did I miss the message of the article? [H]

Because you’re not a thief?

Damn my parents for raising me right! (it’s always the parents fault)

Because Marx says that labor is an absolutely vital component of your well-being, wage or no wage (in fact, he says wages are evil!).

A lovely gift from the Calvinist British economists.

Yes, sometimes I wonder that too… [:|]
