I don’t know if I’m somewhat late to the game here, but it could be due to the fact that I don’t particularly care for drug or alcohol use (don’t care what other people engage in though), but why has the alcohol derived from hemp not been use to fuel cars. I know there’s an obvious answer to this, but why is it that we have not heard any dicussion at all on this? I mean unless this is all some myth promulgated by some wacked out hippie (pretty sure it’s not). Again, sorry if this is old news to some of you on this forum.
Simple. It’s legal to sell hemp in the united states, but not legal to grow it. Thus, economically, there is no potential. Just another law that makes no sense.
Because drugs are bad, mm’kay.
On a more serious note, I wonder if it would be a feasible business practice to grow hemp on a barge sufficiently far off of the US coast to be in international waters and then ship it to the mainland for distribution. I’ve heard of similar practices being used by women who want to get abortions where they are illegal.
Laws really only apply to poor people.

Probably because it’s uneconomical to convert hemp to fuel.
At this current time it is. I just don’t see why the hell we are wasting our time with pointless subsidized “alternatives” that either won’t get anywhere or will be abandoned shortly thereafter.
Because hemp is a natural competitor to petroleum which anyone can produce most anywhere with little capital investment. Most everything that you can make out of petroleum, you can make out of hemp, e.g. plastics, oils, fuels.
Most internal combustion engines 100 years ago ran on alcohol (instead of gasoline) or vegetable oils (instead of diesel fuel). Their popularity grew at the same time as petroleum technologies were blossoming then BAM alcohol prohibition.
Hemp is historically the most widely cultivated plant which once served many purposes, as the processing technology for it began to bear fruit, BAM marijuana prohibition.
