Do you think we will have another serious libertarian candidate run for President come next election?
Not like Ron Paul. Not with his credentials. The voting record, being a doctor from a rural district, apple pie back story. No marriage scandal. No lobbyist or campaign finance hiccups. An author. A record of military service, etc.
Then of course, that person would have to be plugged into the Ron Paul system or at the very least, the Austrian school.
Liberty student pretty much hit the nail on the head. We might have a Paulite running soon, but not someone with a record like Ron Paul’s.
Do you think that Rand Paul may ever get into politics? I know he’s given a few speaches during his father’s campaign, but I don’t know if he really has the desire to become a politician.
I think Rand is pretty involved in the Kentucky Tax reform movement. He is an impressive speaker and an Austrian however. And his backstory is decent. He’d be worth supporting.
I quite like William Lawson (NC). I hope he defeats the incumbent David Price. BJ has a lot going for him. Doctor, entrepreneur, smart, tall, handsome, well spoken. He’s not an Austrian per se, but he could be brought around.
What do you guys think of Adam Kokesh? He’s an interesting character on the scene.

Concerning specifically anti-semitic conspiracies, I don’t know anything about that. He did, however, like to talk about all kinds of “mainstream” conspiracy stuff like the Trilateral Commission (as you will find in my link above) and he’s a regular guest at the Alex Jones Show. No anti-semitism here as far as I see, though.
To answer the original question, we don’t need another RP.
Why not Peter Schiff? Not a politician but thats why the president has “advisors” ( who don’t pay their taxes ).
Maybe in Happyland Dumbama could appoint someone like Schiff?
I have had a few discussions with Dr. Paul and he is a genuine Autrian school thinker, however he does realize that practically he must play the game to some extent in order to get the movement anywhere - which I understand.
The reason there has been such a boom in libertarian thought as of late is largely due to his campaign. Whether he is a pure anarchist or not is debatable, however he never has claimed as much. He is admittedly trying to bridge the gap between conservatives and anarchists and has in my opinion done more for the movement than anyone in recent history.
Will we see another one? - undoubtedly. At a conference recently, Dr. Paul said that many of the new and old congressmen were starting to take interest in the Austrian business cycle theory and he has seen a few more people running on minarchist doctrine - just go check out some of the voting records for congress recently.
I think it would come out as pretty ridiculous if Ron Paul tried to talk about anarcho-capitalism while running for the most powerful position the state has to offer. It seems pretty obvious that he’s trying to go along with and play the game- and try to stir up some new thoughts in people who can’t even imagine a world without the American Government. Trying to distance Ron Paul from libertarianism or the austrian school doesn’t make much sense- his fanbase is only a hop, skip, and jump away from the ancap stance- so why alienate them?
We shouldn’t try to get a “perfect” president. We need better congressmen and governors. Try to get anti-statists elected to those offices first.
