The Cold War would’ve subsided under a Robert A Taft Admin, I don’t think Reagan would’ve gotten elected, I don’t think the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ever would’ve happened, and I think the neocons would still be in the Democratic Party and I think the Republican Party would be better off. I also think he would’ve reversed a lot of the New Deal and the UN would not be a factor in America today. Wall Street probably wouldn’t be as powerful today. I think he may even have instilled a non-interventionist foreign policy in the minds of Americans had he become President. After all, he is a hero of Dr. Paul and a stalwart of the Old Right.
Why do you think it would or would not have made any difference had Robert A Taft become President? In other words, would the statism of Wilson and FDR have been permanently overturned had Robert A Taft become President, or would it have been just another “Revolution of 1800”? Or somewhere inbetween?
I doubt that it would have made much of a difference. As long as the central bank of the USA,the Fed, exists; then there exists a near blank check upon which the government can issue debts on money that has not been saved. So the financial pain of taxation and other theft is never seen. With this blank check the USA Government becomes a danger to liberty, justice and private life. Look at the one now. It has by my count 6 ongoing wars:Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Columbia, Mexico and now Lybia. How many more will the US Government start? How many would the US Government have without the central bank? Probably zero. And that is the war side. The domestic side is equally as disasterous with the growth of “Entitlements”, regulations totalling over 70,000 pages, and the police state.
Neocons were in the Democratic party? As I understand it, neocons were a reaction to the left wanting to surrender to communism in the 70s.

“Neo-cons” were originally counter-revolutionary communists or useful idiots that opposed the Soviet Union in favour of some alternate regime. The U.S. Socialist Party shortly after WW2 referred to the Soviet Union as a “menace”. It was essentially a prop bloc set up by such propagandists to oppose the USSR with no other ideological aspect. It seems like a uniquely American phenemenon. There was never a neoconism in Canada. During the 70’s Canada had a Prime Minister who said that we had a lot to learn from the USSR. He was a useful idiot of the KGB.
