Forum member yuberries inspired me to make this topic because of his avatar which satirizes radio host Alex Jones as a super saiyan.
No one has to convince me that the mainstream media does not report the whole truth. I rarely hear about Austrian business cycle theory. I use multiple websites to fact check politics and to fact check each other. I use FactCheck, PolitiFact, and MediaMatters. I like when the Associated Press does fact checks. They did one on healthcare a few months ago. I am unaware of most of what Alex Jones has claimed or how accurate his claims were, although much of what he says is conspiracy theorism which may be true or false.
The sad thing about these conspiracies is that they often combine sound praxeological (FED) or physical (Tower 7 falls near free fall speed?) analysis with a psychological account of who’s behind it all which you simply can not prove or disprove.
Part of the problem, namely classical liberals and anti-bailout/bankster people in general being perceived as tinfoil hatters who spend all day writing screeds on how the Royal Family are all space lizards. If there is a real conspiracy anything like he’s describing, I’d bet hard currency that he’d be a hired agent to discredit the opposition.

Yeah, the conspiracy theory/ scare monger angle is one of the worst possible approaches to being taken seriously. But then again if an Oprah type angle can cause millions of people to care about Barak Obama…
I guess the big difference is the media/intellectuals loves left wing causes
It’s really a catch 22, because his audience is enormous and growing, and a lot of very smart, well heeled people pay attention to infowars. I think people assume that because he exagerrates and is over the top, his audience agrees with everything he says and does, and he represents them.
But from what I can tell, most of his listeners are much more serious and sober than he is.
Just as we don’t attribute to Obama powers beyond what an individual can achieve, likewise, the supposed damage of Alex Jones’ activites which people disagree with have a relatively small scope. People are much more into Infowars and the conspiracies themselves than Alex Jones as some sort of messianic leader.
On one hand, he is reasonably anti-statist and supports reasonably good causes (generally).

I think of Jones as being paranoid. He thinks AIDS was invented by the government and that “evolutionism” is a state-pushed replacement for religion. And he praised David Icke about something, but it wasn’t his theory about Reptilians. Either way, I’d keep Icke at a far distance from any point I’d like to get across.
Alex Jones is Bill Hicks and he works for CIA. The 1993 WTC bombing occurred on Feb. 26, 1993. Bill Hicks “died” on Feb. 26, 1994. Hmmmmmmmmm?
On a more serious note, I think it is likely that Alex Jones may be working with CIA or some sort of shadowy intelligence. I think that Alex Jones is genuinely working against internationalist interests… and if you think about it, CIA would naturally oppose internationalists (CIA’s power derives from the nation of the United States and the tax revenues its government collects). If my hypothesis is correct, then looking at who Alex Jones calls out and opposes (i.e. what groups, organizations, and so on) may be useful in understanding which forces within politics are international and which are not. The Federal Reserve, for example, is frequently (if ignorantly) targeted by Jones. I take this as an indication that the Federal Reserve is fundamentally international in its orientation. It may also indicate that there is a hidden antagonism between the Fed and CIA and other security/intelligence apparatuses in the US government.
As a side-note, I never understood why the likes of Alex Jones go with Icke when it comes to conspiracy and not with the original source for them all: Sitchin. Perhaps because Sitchin doesn’t claim that ‘his’ aliens control the world or anything (plus it would be practically war on God)
