It seems like before we can rejoice as politicians increase economic and political freedom, we will go through an age of dark government control, globally.
With all the recent news of governments hunting down tax havens, creating jobs, regulation, making laws to censor the internet and spy in people’s computers even in western states, and most importantly the mass media and people being more welcome toward socialist ideas than in a long time, it seems like the trend is bound to lead us into that direction.
I think we will see an era of increased government intervention and government control. A sort of mini-dark ages, which I hope we will come out of quickly.
We are heading that way. It seems people are starting to wake up to the idea that we do not want socialism, fascism or communism, but not enough are waking up to stop it yet. The big problem is if we give up sovereignty to a world government body. Once we give up sovereignty we will probably never get it back without a war.
The hope is now we are down the centralized economy road, it crashes quickly before we give up sovereignty, and we can go to complete capitalism.
I would prefer civil war and a libertarian movement rather than take the road to communism. However, or gov’ts guns are bigger than ours. Our dictators will win.
What’s wrong with a country where the citizens can walk up to their presidents or political leaders office and throw them out? Some would call that disordly and unstable government. Actually, if our politicians have the fear that we can do this they would curtail their decisions to be that of the people and not of their own interests (or interests of the corporations that give them campaign donations - past & future). I believe that would make the country politically more stable.
Politicians will never increase any freedom, they can only have it forced from them. The more they run themselves into the ground and the more their intellectuals are proven to be bankrupt the easier it is for us to take it from them.
Lenin was correct in that things will have to get worse before they get better.
