Basic Format for Business Cycle Pamphlet

I was thinking about making a basic business cycle pamphlet, and this is what I theorized it should look like:

[Title:] Recessions, Depressions, and Financial Crises: Their Causes and Solutions

  1. Primary Cause of Economic Crises [here explain the role of credit creation via central banking and fractional reserve banking]

  2. Secondary Causes of Economic Crises [here explain the role of government subsidies, taxes, tariffs, minimum wages, etc. Include the role of CRA and F&F in the 2008 crisis]

  3. Government “Solutions” [here refute government “solutions,” including…]

a. Lender of Last Resort Operations

b. Lower Central Bank Interest Rates

c. “Recapitalization” of Financial Institutions

d. Government Purchase of Bad Loans

  1. The Real Solution to Economic Cycles [here explain the importance of letting wages and prices fall, abolishing central banking, etc.]

Critiques and comments are appreciated.

Just to add to the above post, we should have three other things included in a pamphlet:

  1. Historical Examples including the Great Depression, the S&L Crisis, etc.

  2. Numerous citations to avoid unneccessary critique.

  3. Links to reccomended reading on mises.org, lewrockwell.com, fee.org, etc.

It might even be a good idea to buy a few books related to the topic (e.g. Rothbard’s Panic of 1819 and America’s Great Depression) and donate them to libraries in the areas you will be saturating with your leaflets. That way, people can quickly and easily look up the books your reccomend.

Excellent ideas!

Just doing an 18 month check. Any progress?
