Best republican nominees

Who are your favorite republican nominees for the presidential elections? Who are the best, the worst, and why. Can you rank them in a list from best to worst?

Obviously, Ron Paul and Gary Johnson are the best. Not say I will be voting in this election or any election.

The rest seem to be terrible with very little redeeming value.

Ron Paul–perfect, would phase out SS and FICA taxes rather than “privatizing” it, would slash expenditures, would cut off all foreign entanglements and close every base not on U.S. soil, would reduce American military presence to nothing more than guarding a common armory, would pardon all non violent Federal inmates, doesn’t favor the FairTax or the income tax in any form, isn’t afraid to give us a very short depression so that prosperity will follow in the long term.

Gary Johnson–not principled enough and he’s somewhat neoliberal (supports managed trade like NAFTA, public private partnerships, etc).

Herman Cain–supported the stimulus, doesn’t think the Fed should be audited, probably supports War on Terror, favors an alliance with Israel, wouldn’t cut spending

Jon Huntsman–would be likely to invade Iran from what I gather, supports alliances, supports cap and trade and he increased spending ~38% in UT ~16m to ~22m according to wikipedia, won’t cut spending

Romney–favors an alliance with Israel, corporatist Rockefeller Republican, won’t cut spending, raised taxes and expenditures as governor of MA, would likely put SS in the hands of Wall Street rather than phase it out.

Michelle Bachmann–favors an alliance with Israel, voted to remain in Afghanistan, sees nothing wrong with the FairTax, worships Reagan, defended the IRS, simply a partisan hack.

The Republicans have only ever nominated one good nominee since 1856, and that’s Warren G Harding. Coolidge, Arthur, and Grant were okay, but they weren’t good, and Goldwater was part of the militant New Right, not the Old Right. The last good Democratic nominee was in 1904, Alton B Parker.

EDIT My favorite is Dr. Paul, my 2nd favorite is Gary Johnson. Romney, Cain, and Bachmann are probably my least favorite. I can’t stand Jon Huntsman either, but he doesn’t piss me off as much as the other 3 do. I don’t crazy about GJ, but he’s okay.

That was a pretty good summary. Romney, of course, also implemented a socialized health care scheme in Massachussettes similar to Obama’s.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and speak for the members of the Mises board: Ron Paul is the best Republican nominee.

Uhh thats not true, look at Mitt Romney. Has nice hair and the way he speaks - it really works me up as a woman. Sure, he isnt quite the libertarian as paul, but look at how charming he is, that kind of makes you know that he is the right person for president.

Paul/Kucinich 2012

:stuck_out_tongue:

Ron Paul ftw. Let’s hope that Rick Perry and Mitt Romney eat each other’s throats. The rest are fodder. Warmongerers/ religious fanatics/ camarilla sycophants all.

I would not be too into a Ron Paul/ Dennic Kucinich ticket. Kucinich is more of a progressive democrat whos opposed to privitization of social security, an advcoate of workers rights, strengthening gun control laws and even universal HC. I would personally love to see instead a Ron Paul / Tom Coburn ticket.

I think Kucinich would make an excellent State Sec. but he wouldn’t be a good VP for Dr. Paul.

I think Bachmann is also a good option. After all she is tea party, which means less taxes and less regulations.

Bachman exemplifies fail more than anyone else. She is brilliantly moronic. Go to youtube and listen to her babble at Bernanke not knowing at all what the fuck she is talking about.

blah blah blah some tens of trillions of dollars. i heard this and i think that. blah blah

and bernanke is like, " haha eham uhum ha. i don’t know where you got those numbers. I’ve never heard those numbers. and can’t assemble a valid point of view based on them. soooo no comment." all with a sleek smile on his face cause ron paul is off being important while bachman embarrasses herself in front of the bankers. So, they know they can get one over on her cause she doesn’t know her hand from the egg she wipes on her face.

she is a total hack

Bachman looks dumb, her protest goes unheard, and those who do notice it realize she is deseperately trying to catch the dust that Ron Paul leaves as an afterthought.
