David Harvey, "Organizing for the Anti-Capitalist Transition"

For those of you who wish to understand the mentallity of the anti-capitalist, here is a great work by an actual anti-capitalist:

It looks like the time has arrived for the world to have a “rumble”…Mises vs. Marx. We know Mises won this war decades ago. We know the free market (which we do not have in this country) is the only economic system that works. The problem is, the “we” who understands this is only about 1% or less of the population. 99% of the population (in the U.S. and in the world) desires government intervention, which leads to socialism, which leads to economic chaos, which leads to totalitarianism. So, it seems clear that the socialist sharks greatly outnumber the free market tunas, and in true democratic form, they are about to decide what is for dinner (i.e., hold an election).

The guy really managed to put all the classic anti-capitalist themes into one essay:

Capitalism produces too little; it can’t sustain its “healthy” three-percent-growth mark anymore.

Capitalism also produces too much; that’s why the climate and the environment will go bust.

And lastly, capitalism also oppresses the workers because the last few boom cycles didn’t actually create jobs!

Next time please stick to the facts. In addition to the aforementioned contradictions, I hate they way the writers associate “Capitalism” with the current government mismanaged economy. I find it ironic that the author would have same people who have caused this mess, over bearing government and central banking are products of free markets and actually run more of society than they currently do. These dreamers think that when all control is in the hands of government instead of most of it that the bureaucrats will be “nicer”. I always find that amazing.

What I can say is that if these clowns are able to convert society into this hell on Earth then the results will be the same as the previous century where Communism had these “glorious victories”

  1. Gloriously defeated their own citizens leading to the deaths of over 30million people and the impoverishment of the rest of them.

  2. Gloriously defeated a slightly different form of socialism in WW2 ending with the deaths of 40 million more people and control of 1/3 of the worlds population.

  3. The deaths of 100million more people and the impoverishment of that 1/3 of the worlds population.

  4. The trickle of freedom for the people in China through mercantilism that keeps them more impoverished than necessary.

Have I missed anything?

Socialized finance and/or health care anyone?

What is CUNY? CommUnists of New York? Oh, City University of New York.

“… a whole host of entrepreneurs hover in the wings waiting to seize this moment of creative destruction backed by a flood of public moneys.”

Ah, yes! Being an entrepreneur with other people’s money. (secretly /facepalms)
