Morris hangs around just long enough to promote his book, promote a massive expansion of the police state and then insult Peter for “talking too much” on Peter’s own show!? Dick, you’re a class act. No wonder they love you over at Faux News.

i don’t like dick morris at all. but schiff wasn’t exactly a great host.
i mean, schiff was taking the conversation all over the place. from the internal split in the republican party, to the war on drugs, then to student frickin loans (in less than 3 minutes)!?!? try drawing a straight line through those points.
i understand that a good conversation flows across topics, but this wasn’t a conversation at all. this was schiff on a stream of conscious rant and morris was just caught inside of it. not only is that unproductive from his stand point (he was there to talk about his book, why else does anyone go on these shows), but also kinda boring (as all one-sided “conversations” are). so i don’t blame morris for hanging up. not one bit.
but, then again, i don’t listen to talk radio. so maybe this is how talk show hosts are suppose to act? i only listen to few news shows on npr occasionally and on that station at least they don’t just invite people on the air to talk over them about whatever pops into the host’s head.
I agree that Schiff was trying to “debate” Morris and that Morris probably was justified in getting a little teed off. I don’t see the reason to hang up though without even delving into the discussion.
In the business of politics you either get a thick skin or work for some news network. Obviously Morris is better suited to the news networks. Yes Schiff is kind of wild and tends to blather but that is no excuse for rudness and Schiff always gives the guest a chance and before going nuts.
I admire Schiff for his quick wit. He was able to gather his thoughts right away, or at least express his prepared arguments very concisely. I don’t see what’s wrong with wanting to debate a guest. The guest should welcome it if this means presenting their case better. This isn’t the Conan show where they have all the questions prepared and props behind the couch.

- Schiff asked Morris about the political divide at CPAC. “How do you see that battle playing out in the Republican party?”
- Morris responded by going off on how much he opposes Ron Paul, saying he’s “horrific”.
- Morris continues by talking about how Paul wants to end the war on drugs and the war on terror.
- So Schiff asks Morris if he thinks we’re winning that war on drugs. (A topic Morris introduced out of nowhere.)
- Morris says we’re not winning that war, and that we should be doing more to “fight it”…suggesting we should drug test kids who get student loans.
- So Schiff asks “how about we just get rid of [government] student loans?” (A topic Morris introduced out of nowhere.)
And you’re saying Schiff was taking the conversation everywhere? All he was doing was responding to whatever topic Morris brought up. Morris was the one who started the whole thing by not answering the question asked and just going down the road of all that police state nonsense.

i would say you are mischaracterizing the convo. i would say morris brings up these topics in an attempt to answer schiff’s questions, but before he can even finish a sentence schiff interupts with yet another question or comment. if anyone disagrees the link is provided above and they can listen and decide for themselves. the last thing morris needs is me defending him (since i don’t even like the sob). so i wont take this any further. and ill leave it as an exercise to someone else to count up the seconds schiff talks compares to those morris talks and they can tell me who dominated the convo. but i cant think of anyone who would care enough to do so.

I listened to the audio and in my opinion I think Morris better have better arguments in his book than he had for Peter Schiff. Morris is not a dummy and he knows that Schiff is going to have opinions contrary to those he has in the book. So argue them. If your Morris and don’t want to argue with the host of another show then the solution is easy: Get your own show. Of course if you expect hosts to throw softballs like the do on Fox then be more careful about the shows you appear on.

S: We’re not fighting it? You mean we don’t have enough laws against drugs?
M: No, we should drug test every high school student, we should drug test everybody that gets a student loan…anybody that is using drugs should not get a government loan.
S: How about not have student loans at all? That would be a lot better.
Who is bringing up the topics again? And what does how long either one talks have to do with who is taking the conversation “all over the place?”

I agree with you on this. I have no idea what Student is talking about.
I have heard Schiff take over a conversation and sometimes it makes me cringe a little, especially since he is my favorite economist. But this was all Dick Morris’s fault.
What’s really disturbing to me is the respect Dick Morris is given by conservatives like Sean Hannity.
Dick Morris and Sean Hannity are apple polishers for the State, and neither deserve respect; only scorn and ridicule.
I’d say that’s basically accurate. They’re not interested in freedom, they’re just interested in their own brand of fascism.
When Obama wants to raise taxes and give special priviledges to minorities, it’s oppression. When these yahoos want to force every American to submit to drug testing it’s liberty and justice.

Dick Morris was the who went off on a tirade that SOMEHOW the solution to Americas problem or the job of the American government should be to UP the ante on the drug and overseas war in Iraq.
Dick Morris PROVED that he knows NOTHING about economics. Yeah, student loans are necessary for kids going to college, give me a BREAK! That is pure, unadulterated SOCIALISM.
