Their issue is that they aren’t fat enough. Add 5 to 10 stones to each of them and I bet their benefits go up at least 200lbs. The UK should pay by the stone. At least it will be fair that way. They should also reduce payments for healthy folks as they are too competitive compared to the unhealthy ones. If you smoke that would be 100 more lbs per month.

Didn’t the health soviets declare obesity the new public enemy, now that smoking is banned almost everywhere? Might be tough to lobby the welfare state if you’re not considered a victim group.
Seems like a good idea to me. Driving the country into poverty with ridiculous schemes such as these may very well be excellent way to end obesity.

I am really surprised the bleeding hearts here in the U.S. have not implemented an obesity tax on fast-food purchases.
Give it 3 or 4 years. Twenty five years ago I would never have believed you if you told me there would be smoking bans one day.
