For people who vote, would you vote for Pat Buchanan if it were between him and Obama/Clinton/Bush only?

He’s far from perfect as he’s a protectionist, and his views on the welfare state seem to go back and forth, but he’s a helluva lot closer to Dr. Paul than anyone else I can think of who has ran for the GOP nomination since 1992 and most years before then.

Would he be acceptable to Austrians, even if just barely? Correct me if I’m thinking wrong, but he wouldn’t be much different from Warren G. Harding.

Personally, I could live with protective tariffs as long as there were no other taxes and no quotas. That certainly wouldn’t be ideal, but it would be tolerable for me.

I only understand if people don’t vote if they don’t pay taxes as well. It’s going to be decades and decades - most likely even much longer - before the necessary amount of voters realize what libertarians mean by describing the State as coercive/etc. and how the free market plays into it all. If you pay your taxes, why not at least vote for the person who will force you to pay less?

usually when you vote, you have an option between dog crap and cat crap… at the end of the day, you still voted for crap… for example, like in the 2000 election, there was a choice between Bush or Al Gore… we were going to get screwed either way… Al Gore ran on the platform that he would expand the federal government, make more products green etc… Bush ran on the platform that he would decrease the federal government decrease taxes… Bush obviously won, but yet he rose taxes and increased the size of the federal government by about 3 times…

Voting is asking something from the government. The government is a criminal gang.

Your behavior is observed by others members of society. I believe if you don’t cooperate with the state at all and explain why, that other people will notice that, and that this will influence people’s ideas. This means it doesn’t matter when things will change, because not voting is part of creating change.

My ‘rich HTML’ or whatever it’s called isn’t working now for some reason? It won’t let me start a thread about it either. Basically two texts boxes are popping up (this usually happens when i scroll down too fast or something), but the upper box is filled in with gray, and it’s only letting me type in this bottom one. Anyone know if I need to download something…? I just ran a virus scan, if that has anything to do with it.
