Well, I have a small suggestion for reorganizing the media files. When I go to Rothbard’s files, for example, all of the audio versions of daily articles are mixed in with his lectures. Seems it would be better if the audio articles could be separated into a different category. So when you clicked on Murray Rothbard’s media you would have folders for audio articles, audio lectures, video, etc.
That’s all I can think of right now.
Glad you brought this up. My suggestion is about going back to the good old days, to wit:
When doing a search and being presented with the results, have them be the actual media files [like blabla.mp3]. Not a link to another page [like blabla.aspx] where the file is. It used to be like that and was changed.
Say you want to download a book that consists of 20 mp3s. That means that after the search results, you have to click 40 seperate times to get the book. But if the search results would list the actual mp3s, then a download manager could download them all with one click.
I tried to give this sort of feedback on the Mises blog when the changes were being made, and the developer basically gave me the, “change happens, deal with it” approach. And despite my voracious appetite for all media Mises, I stopped using the media system here because it has poor usability. I use YouTube, or I find another source.
@Lilburne, my suggestion is to put someone in charge of these changes who has experience building user interfaces, and understands the assumptions most users have about what should be where, and how it should work.
Also, scrapping silverlight, the betamax of web 2.0, would be a good idea. No one should have to install a browser plugin in 2011 in order to view Mises.org.
