Reading on the topic of cartels, Wikipedia mentions the India-Pakistan-Bangladesh-Ceylon Conference, a private cartel that reportedly operated for 134 years.
From the few resources found it is not quite obvious whether it was purely private, or what factors (say, government intervention) has helped to keep it intact. Anybody knows anything more?
