Is it hard for you to be an Economist???

Although Austrian economics is my only school of thought, I really dont know if I am an Austrian Economist. I still believe in government, national programs…among others.

For purposes of stating my question to you I will call myself a leftist Austrian.

2007 was my last year in college, I remember debating with my instructors that the housing market did not make sense to me. Here in South Florida new home owners were force to divide their homes in 2 or 3 parts to rent them so they could make monthly mortgage payments. It was ok as long as equity was increasing “DAILY”.

In late 2007 I came across Ron Paul…at that time his thoughts about the real estate market were out of this planet to me. Well…to make the story short I was soon reading real economics and thinking different…and it bought me some trouble in my last semester at college finishing my BS in Economics.

Now I know things that noone close to me knows. I can hardly have a smart economics converzation with anyone.

How is it going for you?? Is it difficult to talk about economics???

Could you explain why?

Would you watch a baseball game that has no umpires??

Would you watch a baseball game where umpires stimulate the game, play like players and intervene??

I am assuming any reasonable person would say no in both questions.

That is how i see government’s role in society…to ensure order.

If you want to prove me otherwise about government…try first to remove umpires from baseball games.

GOOD LUCK.

An Austrian Economist would know economics is meant to be value free.

What you’re referring to is Libertarianism. A political philosophy, i.e what should or should not be law.

Granted - most Austrian School followers, are also Libertarian / voluntaryist / anarcho-capitalist etc etc. which has created your confusion.

No such thing… unless you’re from Austria? lol.

If it’s your last semester, I’d probably recommend you concentrate on the BS, get it done - get out, then discard everything “learnt”.

sounds like you’re a minarchist

Anarchism is another ideal on the other side of the coin lies communism and both are doom to have the same fatal ending.

I wonder if human logic every teaches us that extremism are not good.

Like conza said, an Austrian does not have to be libertarian. An Austrian might say “rent control leads to a lower quality of housing for the poor.” That doesn’t mean that he must be against rent control. Maybe he hates the poor and wants them to be worse off.

Why is that?

I dunno about anarchism and communism being on two sides of a spectrum.

Why Not???

I think we are leaving the post main idea.

I’m not the one making the claim.

Then why did you post it?

If you remove umpires from a baseball game, then both teams will agree to put up new umpires and they will agree on who will be the umpires. This is no different from any other marketplace. If I’m concerned about the safety of my food, then I’ll only eat at restaurants that are inspected by inspectors who have a good reputation.

Or if I buy a new graphics card for my computer, I will only buy one that has been independently reviewed and has been shown to outperform other offerings on a price/quality basis. No aggression required in any of this. In fact, aggression would mean someone is getting exploited: to either pay for a service he doesn’t use or that he wouldn’t choose if he had a choice.

So you’re going against the grain and stating that order doesn’t rise spontaneously?

Well i dont care how umpires come up to be…you agree they are needed.

Thank you.

Explain yourself better.

This is possibly the most pernicious doctrine of the modern age since under its power, to be extremely good is actually to be extremely bad.

wolfman, I suggest you cease here, you’re not going to get anywhere with this. Anyways, like I said, the way you’ve described your position is that of a minarchist libertarian.

Not too many people here will agree that law is unnecessary.

Anarchism =/= no law

Could you be kind to define minarchist libertarian for me???
