I wouldn’t call those related to Gliese 581 outlandish or stupid. The system has been observed for years now, and scientists have been stressing the likely hood of discovering a planet similar to earth in the system almost since the first exoplanet was found there. In the case of Gliese 581 g it was actually discovered on September 29th and really is a huge step forward in our understanding of the system and really the universe as a whole, though I would chalk up the other stories to more government stupidity. Also, the alien life the last two articles are talking about is probably just meant to be bacteria like organisms or something, nothing sentient.

Isn’t this an irony? These mad, IQ of 180 scientists who try to discover the secrets of the universe cannot even begin to understand the most elementary “secrets” of economic order.
Just the general hate thrown towards muslims in general. I would be willing to say it’s more nationalist than racist actually, but prejudiced all the same.
Maybe TPTB are pushing for global unity with all these bogus UFO stories. It would be easier to unite the globe under a world government if we were threatened by aliens. Like in the book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.
