I apologize for posting a lot today, but I figured, if there’s anyone I should post this article, I should post it here.
Has anyone seen this?
How does the UN take itself seriously? That lady clearly has not seen the Skyline trailer.

Well, there’s been a lot of ‘official’ interest in extraterrestrial life forms recently. Its either building up the a stages alien invasion, or else they really want to let people know something.
I thought this was to be an humourus post, something like the alien greeting sequence from Mars Attacks.
It turned out to be much, much better.
I particularly liked this bit:
According to numerous reports, 58-year-old Malaysian astrophysicist Mazlan Othman, head of the U.N.'s Office for Outer Space Affairs, will be given the role, provided U.N. scientific advisory committees and the General Assembly give the thumbs up.
Are these the same committees that were involved in the Global Warming scandal? Or are these newly created, ad hoc committees? If so how can I hop on board to make some serious wonka? I have a formal scientific instruction and I have been involved in UFO investigations (true on both counts).
The thought of that bureaucratic nightmare that are the UN nominating an ambassador to aliens just like your run of the mill UFO cult is just so hilarious I can barely repress laughters.
And I can picture all those wacky “alien greeters” types and “contactees” I’ve seen in my life sending angry letters to the UN for stealing their act… And how about the Raelians? They have tried to build a proper embassy for the “Elohim” for decades now. I suggest Dr Mazlan Othman to turn to them as soon as possible: nobody has more expertise in opening up diplomatic relationships with aliens than they do. can you imagine this http://www.elohimembassy.org/ showing up on an official UN website? Priceless.
I’m about to go on quite a tangent, but I went to that www.elohimembassy.org website and read this:
How #3 constitutes as a requirement is beyond me. I think some people are just too smart for anyone else to realize.
checks the date
Wait, it’s not April fool’s day. What the hell?
Why would this surprise anyone? It’s the UN.
Probably zero chance the UN Abassador to extraterrestrial life is an Austrian.
Could this possibly just be a sly way to establish UN authority over potential space colonies? Virgin has announced they’ll begin space tourism in around 18 months. I would image once all technical challenges of radiation, logistics and colonization are tackled I’m quite sure there will be people willing to relocate to Mars or the Moon or some space station (governments probably being the #1 reason for them to want to leave). So the UN gets it’s meat-hooks into that piece of the pie now rather than wait 50 to 100 years. We might be laughing at such long term ambitions, but when you look back to the way public education and the framework that’s led to the modern menace of social welfare came about, who’s to say it’s not their intention?
I don’t know how most people start to freak out when you mention education being privatized. All I can think is how cheap and efficient it would be. Really shows how skewed mindsets can become after a few generations.
