On Liberty Student’s departure, I hope he is just thinking things over and does not stay away long. His presence will be missed.

I mean why would he leave? For what reason would he abandon these forums altogether iinstead of just going to another forum more often or doing whatever he is now. Why close his account in order to do this?

Wait, what? What happened? Why did he close his account? Most people who “move on” slowly decrease the frequency of their posts, not just unexpectedly disappear.
Indeed, it seems rather peculiar that LS would just disappear like that. Even though I lurk more than post, I can say that his contributions were some the most influential in directing towards the ancap philosophy. I don’t think I’m alone in this regard, he will be missed.
Regarding the fact that Liberty Student’s departure was not a “tapering off” affair, let me just say that LS is not a capricious fellow. He makes conscious, rational decisions, and then he follows through with them. He made this decision a while ago, and now he is following through with it (although I would note that I and others pleaded for him not to). But, you should all know, that before he left, he expressed optimism about the future of this Forum. LS’s departure is a huge, painful loss to the Mises Community (especially for me, as I consider him one of my best friends), but he didn’t want his leaving to be a big deal. So let’s respect his wishes, and instead of getting too upset about it, let’s follow the example of this month’s MVPs (including LS himself) and continue the recent improvement in the level of discourse on this Forum in order to make it a true oasis of reason, civility, and learning, and a place Liberty Student would, someday in the future, want to come back to.
As I mentioned a month ago, the MVP badges are going to be a rotating honor. To keep things fresh, members won’t get MVP two months in a row. So I hope the January MVPs won’t be too surprised when they find their badge gone tomorrow. Please know that it is absolutely NO reflection on your quality of posting; again, it’s just about keeping things fresh and dynamic.

Will miss Liberty Student’s contributions here. Still one of my favorite posts from the LvMI Forum came from LS:
