New(?) forum glitches

I happen to be a big fan of the new layout, but I’ve noticed a few glitches (that may or may not have existed before):

Using Opera, line breaks in the WYSIWYG editor don’t insert a line break in the final post. You have to add them manually using HTML. In addition, the entire “edit bar”(with the Bold, Italic, Underline, Create List, etc. options) isn’t there.

Using any browser, long user names are cut off when viewing a user search.

Using Firefox on Vista, sometimes replying to a thread results in a browser crash. This never happened in the old layout, but I also reinstalled the .NET Framework 3.5, so it may be related to that. The post still goes through.

The firefox crashes are getting ridiculous… every time I post a “quick reply” in firefox on vista, the browser crashes.

Let’s pretend this email is a blog entry.

No problem in ffx here (XP)

Whoops! I take that back. You are right. Guaranteed crash in Ffx on “quickreply”

This is regular reply.

Yeah, this really needs to be fixed…

What?

Works fine for me with Firefox 3.0

This is a quick reply. I have the entire edit bar (bold, italic, underscore, etc. etc. all the way to HTML) visible. I am using Firefox in Linux.

Hey! I just noticed that Paste From Word button.

Hmm… Funny. You guys are on Windows and a MicroSoft-centered web application fails… but it works fine on Linux! Ha!

ADDED: I am wrong!!! My browser soon crashed. I will shut up now.

Wait a minute… Firefox 3.0 is out already??

I don’t think it’s Microsoft-related just because it has a similar button…

Anyways, the edit bar appears in Firefox, but not in Opera. Firefox crashes every time you use “quick reply” on Windows (luckily, the post still goes through). EDIT: Apparently it crashes on Linux too.

Internet Explorer doesn’t have any unique issues.

Firefox 3 is out already?

No, but you can get it here anyway.

I’ll download that, but I still think that the malformed javascript needs to be fixed. Not all firefox users know about (or want to use) beta software.

Did any of the underlying code change during the visual update?

Actually, this is a major upgrade of the underlying software as well.

Btw, you can choose your editor in your profile. Maybe only the default one causes the crash?

The Enhanced 2 editor works fine with Firefox 2 and Quick Reply

I’ve already updated Firefox. :frowning:

Well, here is a problem in the quick-reply software on Firefox 3:

Hitting “enter” adds a line break, but it switches focus away from the editor (and the editor temporarily spams its way down the screen).

EDIT: I’ll stop trying to look for problems, I feel bad for whomever has to fix them.

The frontpage is now mainly text. Something happened.

I feel like dirt for whining about another problem, but if I owned a forum, I’d want others to do the same!

There is a different “press enter” error in Firefox 3 for Windows when doing a regular reply (as opposed to a quick-reply).

This time, the editor retains focus, but the entire page is scrolled down so that the newline is at the bottum of the browser window.

I am not sure if this is related to the forum or not, but I tried lookin at a thread and when I hit back it brought up an error screen that said “Oops. An unexpected error has occured” It then asked if I wanted to be notified of when it was fixed. I closed the window and opened it back up 5 minutes later and it was fine but it happened twice today. I dont know if it was just me who has had this issue or if anyone else has.

I am having trouble adding a link to text with the new forum. I had no such problem before.
