Re: Minarchists or Anarchists?

.

All I would like to know is why Liberty Student will immediately dismiss any of Strangeloop’s posts because he disagrees with them. When strangeloop asks him to explain the problem, LS has the gall to tell him its only logic I’m not here to teach you.

Why does liberty student boast (read it at least 2 times this night) about his masterful understanding of austrian economics (for a layman, I guess) yet he refuses to debate Strangeloop on even the most basic economic concepts?

Then we get to Liberty Student’s conception of anarcho-capitalism as some sort of well-defined phenomena when in fact it is nothing more than an institutional structure which utilizes markets to properly allocate scarce resources without formal government. It’s a black and white world for LS, it’s either government or untainted, and boy what a simple world that is to understand.

Let’s end this with a Vincent Ostrom quote:

“However, it’s important to stress that not all forms of public enterprise are, or need to be, state-owned and operated. Markets are diverse and complex entities. Markets for different types of goods and services may take on quite different characteristics. Some may work well under the most impersonal conditions. Others may depend upon personal considerations involving high levels of trust among trading partners. In other words, the options are much greater than we imagine, and we can see this is true if we don’t allow our minds to be trapped within narrowly constrained intellectual horizons.”

Just ignore him. That’s what I do. Then I go into a corner and cry to my hearts’ content.
