Is the libertarian movement actually becoming mainstream?
This is one of the few polls that is actually meaningful since the Ron Paul supporter’s can’t organize to deluge a Rasmussen poll on the internet. Very surprising result.
My guess would be that most voters don’t really know about Paul’s stance on particular issues. I would much rather see a poll regarding stances on particular issues rather than candidate popularity.
So what do we prefer? If democrats/republicans keep getting elected and eventually crash the system, that might create new opportunities for secession etc. On the other hand, Ron Paul would probably do a ton of good things.
Has he ever spoken about secession? Be great if he let states/counties do it. Imo nothing else would really need to be reformed. The federal government would just collapse in on itself.
That’s exactly what I thought when I first saw this on Lew Rockwell’s site.
I remember a while ago I heard something about how 15% of Americans hold libertarian views (note: holding libertarian views and being libertarian are two different things).

Not enough, but it’s gaining popularity. It has become a common utterance on MSM now, I don’t know how long, if ever, that has been the case.
I find that hard to believe. I would think that it would be closer to 80 or 90%.
No such federal elections exist.
No, most folks like the idea of telling other people how to live their lives. Maybe you’ll find a majority of people who are libertarian on one issue or another, but not consistently.
That’s why we find the statist gene and purify the World.
To me “holding libertarian views” doesn’t imply consistency. I’d say less than 3% of folks are any kind of libertarian.
I still have no intention to ever vote, but it’s nice to see that the message of liberty isn’t falling on deaf ears.
I really hope no libertarian ever gets into office, though. They’d be nothing but a scapegoat.
