Does anyone here know of tea parties that took place before Obama was elected? I thought for sure that there were some. I vaguely remember one up in Buffalo, maybe a couple others. But that’s it.
The first tea party was a Ron Paul event in something like 2007.
^^^ This. The Tea Parties weren’t about being racist towards Obama. The Tea Parties were against everyone, man or woman, white, black, yellow, or blue, and for Ron Paul.
I think I remember hearing something about one that happened sometime in the 18th century

Campaign for Liberty was started on June 10, 2008.
And to clarify, using the term tea parties is like using the term “grab me a kleenex” or vice grips. These are brand names that are used for any product that provides a similar function. The Tea Party is an organization. I don’t think it should be generalize to every activist group that shows disdain for the status quo.
There is more then one organization and some don’t exactly get along with each other.
