While the posts were definately made with my tongue firmly in cheek, I don’t see why my examples wouldn’t be viable activities in an anarchist society. I am pretty sure I can get my hands on all the automatic weapons I needed from overseas…why would I want to trade with my neighbors. This is why I don’t think the “might makes right” attitude is acceptable.

That’s true today, too. If you have enough firepower to dissuade attempts by the State to capture you, then no problem.
I disagree. A few people have tried to assemble sufficient firepower to dissuade the US government, and it didn’t end too well for them. There is a big difference between battling a few small groups of armed gangs that arise in an anarchist society and resisting the full brunt of a well-armed and well-trained professional military force with nearly unlimited funds at its disposal.

You don’t have to beat them. Just leave. That’s what I’m going to do the day it becomes too oppressive for me.

So what? Does that mean that your idea would be disproven by a couple people not mustering enough power in an anarchist society?
Yes or no: if you had enough firepower to dissuade the US government (that is, we are assuming at the outset that you actually do have enough firepower to dissuade them) would you or would you not be able to engage in the acts which you proposed in your earlier post?
You are just assuming that under an anarchist society there would not exist as much firepower to bear against criminals as today. You don’t know this to be true, you are just asserting it.

First thing I would do is go homestead some prime government land here in OR.
Most likely it would have been sold in the liquidation of the government.
By who? No one owns it.
By the winning bid. Should there be no bidder, then it would be truly unowned.

If we auction off all government owned land who gets the money from that sale, or will it be given away in some sort of lottery, and who runs this auction if the government no longer exists? Who do we pay and how, I’m guessing Federal Reserve Notes will not be accepted? How exactly is the land going to transfer from government to private ownership? I have some gold and silver, but probably not enough. I definitely would like to acquire a tank if possible, and maybe some other cool weapons, how will those be liquidated? If we get rid of the government do we have to pay off the National Debt? Can we get some $$$ back from the liquidation to compensate for the taxes we have paid. I would like to go to Washington to point and laugh at politicians getting evicted from (formerly) public buildings. Maybe I could make some money selling them “Economics 101” books. I could probably get some nice stuff for the house from the Government Yard Sale.
I’m getting excited about this, when will the “Going Out of Business” sale start?
Obviously whoever controls the government at the time of liquidation (highly improbable it will be you or me) will decide what to do with the proceeds.
