Take a look at this Amazon listmania that I made a while back:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/listmania/fullview/R13BVH55G7NM07/
It has almost 1000 views. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you’ll notice something I sneaked onto the list: Human Action! Now, even if we assume that 1% of the people who read that list took my advice and bought Human Action, that’s TEN folks who are now happily (I hope) reading Mises’ masterwork. That number doesn’t include the scores of curious people who clicked the link and discovered the existence of the Austrian school for the first time. And consider the target audience of the piece: young people going to college for the first time. I seriously wonder how many people I’ve reached with this little ploy.
If you want to do the same, it’s easy:
-
Find a really hot product on Amazon and create a list based around it. Whenever someone views that product, links to your listmania will occasionally pop up on that page as well.
-
Sneak an AE product on the list somehow.
That’s it! I was really pleased to discover that almost 1000 people had seen my list and were possibly exposed to Human Action. Amazon gets a lot of traffic, and I think it’s a great place to spread the word about the Austrian School.
