If unemployment elevates to 40%, and riots continue to break out in much greater numbers, and martial law is declared, and Fema camps start to be used, could the 2012 elections be postponed?
As crazy as this sounds, if things get worse, could the government somehow use this to postpone the elections?

I don’t think we’ll ever see elections suspended, it would be too much of a wake-up call. Plus, elections are a joke, anyway. It’s not like they’re not going to get their man elected, no matter what happens at the ballot box.

I agree with Clayton. Martial law is a possibility, but suspending elections would scare people even more than 40% unemployment. The masses love their democracy (voting to steal from each other) and it’s riggend enough that nothing really changes.
