Foreign policy has always been a weakness in my ideological arsenal, but its certainly gotten better lately. I’ve read quite a few essays about it, namely from Rothbard… but I was wondering what you would say are the best Austrian works that deal with private defense and/or the inefficiency/immorality of monopolized defense. I’ve read The Road to Serfdom talks about war, and I just got that this week. Hope to read it soon.
Other than that, I already have an idea of a couple things I wish to buy; namely, Higgs’ Crisis and Leviathan, Hoppe’s Myth of National Defense, Mises’ Nation, State, and Economy, and Flynn’s As We Go Marching. Of course, I only get minimum wage, so I was hoping you guys could name me or link me the best works concerning warfare.
There is also John T Flynn’s Back Door to War, Schumpeter’s Imperialism, and perhaps the definitive work on foreign policy The Costs of War edited by John Denson. Superb work.
The folks under market-anarchism could elect war through their purchases. they’d have to have an efficient market, to be able to respond to threats.
If the U.S. would disengage forces worldwide, which would be more likely to happen chaos, or spontaneous order?
I would, in a free market, donate to any madhouse if they just started locking up more sadists, and misanthropes; the folks who enjoy war.
Mr. Obama is surely not the peace candidate since the president seems to have unquestioned authority to commit troops abroad, he must also bear unquestioned authority to withdraw troops. Why would it be such a horrid thing if the U.S. sent out more traders than troops?
We’re all pawns, if we let the current status quo drive us all off a cliff, because they are too shallow minded of a mob to admit the lessons of defeat!
