I just got some papers to pass out to my low income students. Its comcast internet for 9.95/month (no rate increases, or fees) plus, a computer if you want for $149.
So, low income people get:
Free housing - Section 8 (usually nice apartments here in Houston with garages)
Free Utilities - paid for depding on your income level
Free Food - Lone Star Card
Free Medical - Medicaid
Free Kids lunches - during summer (up to 18 yr olds at schools)
Free Automotive Repair - they were talking about places that are section 8 automotive shops, which I didn’t know existed
Free Breast Pumps - the top of the line ones too, my wife was telling me they are having a problem with them selling the pumps on ebay or craigslist
Super Low Cost Internet - 9.99/month for cable internet.
I’m being serious here. After all this is paid for, what do they have to pay for?
Why don’t you speak to a few of your students, get to know them and find out. Or are “they” so frightfully uncouthe and unwashed that keeping your distance is preferred?
Don’t go too hard on the poor. They really don’t have enough influence to bear the blame for society’s ills. It is the corrupt and sociopathic Elites and the apathetic and immoral middle class who bear the vast majority of the blame. Here’s a little chart I drew up to summarize my ideas on the matter:
Don’t forget, along with free housing comes all the free bullets to the brain and free rape in the projects. The amenities exist, sure, but the government(I’m speaking from what I see in NYC)- is terrible in providing any kind of a good environment. Its no paradise- those points should be made.
