Low on wages here in the southeatern part of the US are not keeping up with the national average. How can I make a better living with wages so low? Opening a business seems risky during a recession. What am I to do?
Consider a temporary career as a repo man.
If your physically up to it, get your CDL Class A Drivers License. Lots of good driving jobs that are recession resistant. Especially considering the trucking industry is already begging for labor. It also is a bridge into route driving, which pays excellent.
Keep your head down, stock your larder deep, and complain as much as everybody else. In other words, do for you and yours but fit in.
That is the only way to survive anything.
Opening a business is always somewhat of a risky venture. The question is, will it be riskier now than in a few years, after oil prices are well over $100, high-quality supplies may be unable to keep up with growing world demand, increasing food prices, etc. I guess that depends on where your proposed business would fit into the local economy there, or if it’s an online business operating countrywide.
Also, if it’s something you can do part-time to begin with, building a website, creating a business plan, and the like, then maybe it could make a little money while you transition. Otherwise, you may just want to look for a higher-paying job, if any are available. Or a part-time position.
There are always opportunities..Start your business small,in your spare time.Don’t incorporate,gain franchise,or operate in public.Government always try to fix prices,which creates shortage..I think farming will be cool again.Stay away from patented GMO seed though.
