Why does the liberal media hate Sarah Palin?

“Basically, the left is like the Borg… They are anti-conformists”

Does not compute. Someone needs to re-watch Star Trek First Contact.

I think there is just so much rottenness and mediocrity in politics today, it pays to have confirmation bias about only one party.

On the one hand, you can have a lot of fun bashing the stupidity and nonsense of that party. On the other hand, you can stave off the depression of knowing your own party is also garbage and full of the same or similar types. And that there is no future for you. And all of your political efforts are nonsensical.

EDIT

“She’s a white Alaskan redneck with a funny accent, a retarded baby, a unmarried teen-mom daughter, and she claims the geographic vacinity of her home state to Russia gives her some kind of foreign policy cred. She can’t name one Supreme Court decision she disagrees with. She can’t name one newspaper she reads. She can’t name one founding father she most admires. (Coincidentally her response to the last two was “all of em.”) She’s as much of a bafoon as Joe Biden (and that’s saying something) but she’s a decently attractive woman and she’s a Republican. I’m not sure there’s been a better left-wing media target since Bush took office.”

Sooooooo, she’s not an easy target, but a, sort of, perfect target? The difference is that Biden is actually connected in Washington and has participated in a few cover up commissions (WACO, OKC bombing) and Sarah Palin is a walking mannequin.

Palin is the only other pretty face that can hypnotize people; a threat to Obama. She is a beta trained moron. Henry Kissinger’s name was all over her campaign and picked her PR firm.

I think the liberal media has some legitimate gripes regarding Sarah Palin, but as it was previously stated in this thread, it has to do with the victim mentality. Their caricature of the other side sees them as white stodgy males and that’s that. Any woman or ethnic minority who becomes a Republican is a tool in their eyes. So it’s really just character assassination on their part because they have such a visceral reaction to her.

Sarah Palin is a heel.

No John James, it was a response to the OP’s idea that Palin is no different from any other politician.

Of course other politicians are smarter than her, and of course she receives due criticism for not being well-informed.

It isn’t that she’s stupid, but that she’s openly stupid. There are politicians just as stupid (Biden FFS), but they’re closeted.

With some creative editing and selective reasoning, the media can make anyone look like anything. We don’t know anything more about these people except from what we see on TV or read online or the papers.

I don’t find Palin any more stupid than other politicians. She is just framed as stupid, just as Bush was. It’s an easy light to cast; people with Midwest/Southern drawls who dont appeal to academics are already prepackaged as simpleminded because of how western media has conditioned consumers of their media to see them.

Every politician has made Bush/Palin-type of mistakes. What really matters is how they’re trumped up or looked over. Easy.

But why Palin and not Herman Cain for example? Herman Cain is also very religious and conservative, why doesn’t he get ridiculed? What about Pawlenty?

If Jesse “Hymietown” Jackson and Genghis Farrakhan can be media golden boys (uh oh, I foresee a NAACP lawsuit already), I don’t see why Herman Cain couldn’t keep a decent profile in this regard. He may be from the more rural side of the black community, but there’s no doubt still some residual Katrina sympathy in this regard, and his job history is so WASP he’s practically the real life equivalent of this character. Smearing him as an “Oreo” would also call into question the obvious fact that he’s a lot darker than Obama, and that he was born to two working class blacks rather than a runaway Kenyan daddy and a white Hawaiian woman.

Palin, meanwhile, is most likely seen as the Republican small town soccer mom incarnate, even given her hundred grand outfits. This, on top of her originating from Alaska, which again typifies the mirror image in lefty demonology to the Promised Land of Canada, irritates media elites, who, with the exception of the employees of the rapidly crumbling Murdoch empire, are overwhelmingly upper-class, cosmopolitan left-liberals based in major urban and commercial centres. This applies just as much to UK as it does to US media, though I’m less sure of the situation in the People’s States of western Europe.

Pawlenty, meanwhile, is duller than spoilt milk left in the middle of an electronics factory cafeteria for 12 hours in the peak of summer in the middle of the Mojave Desert. He makes Huckabee look like Ronald Reagan, for Freud’s sake. Even discussing him now feels like the modern day political equivalent of arguing over the colour of toolsheds. So, due to this utter dullness, the media avoids him. He’s hardly even a second rate runner for the Presidency, anyway. It will all come down to two RPs from Texas, mark my words.
