Many of you here are, I’m sure, familiar with the Advocates for Self Government’s “World’s Smallest Political Quiz”. I find this quiz to be totally bogus and loaded, as a friend of mine observed,

Here is a criticism I’ve read online by a non-libertarian which I find largely accurate.
In addition I took the Center for a Stateless Society’s political quiz and found it to be heavily loaded to encourage left-wing answers. Naturally, I find these answers repellent and/or stupid, causing the quiz to accuse me of essentially being a Nazi - which is retarded. Which indicates that the test is - retarded. Which further strengthens my view that left-libertarians (perhaps excepting Long) are not libertarian, they’re lefties.
But all quests/polls are inherently bias in at least some small way. I think perhaps you answered a lot of questions with “are naturally inferior” “should respect social institutions” “would be uncomfortable if my child” etc. I may be wrong, that just seems where a lot of the bias in the quiz comes from.

I have been comming increasingly in favor of such a view about left libertarians. Though I also wonder if it could be made via an Enlightenment / anti Enlightenment dichotomy. Either way, something seems seriously amiss with left-libertarianism. But it is certainly a trait among mass politics, in particular on the left to leave little room for nuance.
I think a good rule of thumb is that people who constantly use the left/right distinction are less nuanced than those that do not.
Hey, if someone wants to define themselves as such you may as well run with it; they essentially asked be judged in a lump group anyway, I may as well be polite and oblige their requests. It certainly can make for more amusing conversation.
Yes, those are excellent ‘stupid questions’ from the C4SS. The primary problem of all these tests is that they derive from a categorizing system that basically entails party platformism and derivative ideology. There’s no way they can reflect the multilateral status of real political philosophy; they’re only effective with hacks, herds and ideologues.

The poll doesn’t claim any optimal rationality for any position. (perhaps some people just felt bad about their result or bad about answering questions honestly?).
Most people can answer it and be happy with the result.
They’re confusing rationality with prediction capability.

The test fails to reflect people’s actual views and behavior, and is loaded to convince people they’re libertarians. As the attached article argued, it’s just religious propaganda.

See, my results were basically very far to the ‘right’ on most of the bars, but I can garauntee you that if it wasn’t loaded for infantile leftism I would have been 100% Anarchist, 100% anti-militarist and 100% civil libertarian. Left libertarianism becomes more and more of a self-parody every day; they may as well merge with the loony left or abandon their cultural Marxism.
No joke! Anything that asks questions about astrology or your opinions on whether women should focus more on kids or careers, or the false choice between stopping inflation and stopping unemployment (those two are more or less the same thing in many respects), etc.

Ya that one was pretty accurate in its final tally as well. But a few of the questions I found I had no answer for and just picked something that I wasn’t exactly against, but not for.
The guy was right tho, I think society is best served if there are a large number of interests involved, rather than a few. “You would need a mix of Democratic, Green, and Libertarian politicians in office to get the balance of freedom and social justice you desire”
