You know you're an Austrian when...

So basically you’re referring to run of the mill ideologues which exist in any if not all schools of thought, which has nothing particular to do with being Austrian, mirite?

How boring.

You realize the irony of Andrew Jackson on a central bank note.

And you want this shirt even though no one will understand it.

When you realize handing someone a negotiable instrument with your signature on it promising away your future which gets sold for the press of the enter key is not getting a loan… it’s giving one.

When you realize the banker sitting accross from you should be filling out the credit application.

When a bank teller hands you back a negotiable instrument and states they are unwilling to take possession and the legal rights acquired with title unless you indorse it thereby promising to let them steal from you in the event the pre-negotiated clearinghouse contracts they have with the federal reserve system do not pan out.

When you write philosophy essay that your philosophy professor has to email to your economics teacher for help in decyphering, and vice versa.

That actually happened to me.

When you laugh real hard at people trying to use labour statistics that they think “prove” middle class is shrinking or poor are getting poorer

When bad music merely becomes a subjective value.

when you start wishing more people had talent so they could ignore governmental affairs and work.

when you convince your community college professor parent she’s a plunderer

when sitting in class you suddenly realize Charles Murray makes sense.

when someone says you need a little government you immediately think “yeah, like I need cancer.”

when you gawk in amazement at McDonalds and realize “OMG this is division of labour at work.”

When someone says I’m going to be a social engineer and you think, “don’t we have Marxists for that”.

Most of these are personal experiences lol

You’re going to have to explain that one to me. I don’t get it.

You have to explain why you are staunchly anti-globalist, yet believe in “free trade.”

You have strong moral opinions about social issues, yet you throw a fit when the federal government wants to enforce them.

Your comic relief for the day is getting called a “bleeding heart liberal” and a “right-wing nut job” for expressing your logical and consistent views on the economy.

You forget your lunch and simply shrug your shoulders, saying “assume a sandwich.”

You respond to the phrase, “Hey! That was my idea!” by launching into an explication on the absurdities of intellectual property.

I experienced this all through my first years of college as a 15, 16, and 17 year old. Most of them just assumed my unique perspective (and the fact I actually cared about the subjects at hand for their own sake) was a result of my having been home schooled. Perhaps the combination–being a homeschooled Austrian–offers an even more unique advantage.

…you find the biggest Austrian economic joke of all time is Arnold Schwarzenegger.

@ BibleLibertarian,

Are you talking to me?

You know you’re an Austrian when…

No one understands what the hell you’re actually saying.

Ever.

Are you still the first pro-intervention Austrian?

More neoclassical tbh.
