It’s easy, 99% of the historian would never ever imagine the possibility that the history there were told is false, so they just accept the contradictions as funny or curiosities, never connecting the dots. Few do.
They are not lying, they just have an almost sacred belief in the tales they were told and consider it stupid or sacrilege to question it, that’s how you will find incredible contradictions in all the discoveries, may them be pyramids, pompei, vikings… they will wonder, question, but most never raise the question… what if they are not as old as we were told? They will try to find another explanation… a burglar went into the pyramid, they had magic knowledge to move such big rocks, they had an incredible advance metal knowledge… it’s wishful thinking and goes well with our psychology, big lies are not questioned. We will think…nah.. that can’t be possible..that’s too big a lie! That’s why it works, and because 99.999% of people are lazy and don’t question things. When I started cooking I became vegetarian because I researched the conditions of the things I was about to cook. When I researched ethics and economics I arrived here, and when I researched ancient history and look for their chain of custody I arrived at the so called new-chronology which is really the correct science based chronology and the official one religious unscientific, never questioned or analyzed in deep.

I am actually wondering if his type of point of view is actually because the “classical” (or koine, homeric, etc) Greek language was essentially lost in the West until about 1450 AD mixed with the rather poor and somewhat irresponsible 19th century studies of Medieval and non Western Histories (think "German Bible school of criticism, etc) where they didn’t even believe a Babylon or Troy existed, and mixed with nationalistic mathematicians (ironic for our Germophiles, this originated in Russia).
I’ve seen this type of reasoning quite a bit in “pop” histories, it is odd this 19th century sentiment is still popular in the mainstream.

I do try to visit museums, not the tourist scams, you can check many ancient maps, portraits depecting most “ancient” events in medieval clothing, in medieval cities, because that’s when they happen!

Nitpick: While there is some debate as to where the Hittites originated, they were most likely of the Indo-European stock, their origins are a bit murky. Also, the Carthaginians were not even the first to colonize Spain, but rather their predecessor (or if you want you could say their first incarnation), the people of Tyre (Phoenicians).
As to why people use the word Semite to refer exclusively to Jewish people, it is probably the Same reason why people think of Germans when they think of Aryans. On inflation in Israel: that’s because lots of Jewish people who are not from Russia (and even a few who are from Russia!) are fools and knaves and think socialism is friendly to them. But there are very many Israelis who are against large government and the over 50% of the economy that it represents in Israel. Don’t lump Israel into one bunch as etatists. Its a democracy and so far in every democracy, as Hayek showed in Why I Am Not a Conservative, the Right lags 50 years after the Left while the Left pushes for bigger budgets. Like in the United States.
I am obviously not saying every person in Isra’el is a socialist. I am just saying that the State itself is not very capitalistic.
