Although I fear this is political posturing by Obama that only temporarily forestalls a bailout.
If Arnold doesn’t get bailed out it will probably hurt his popularity and how well liked he is. This could lead to the Obamanation putting a little Obamoid in Sacremento next time around, thus terminating the Schwartzenegger Administration.
I like the ending line, sounds like a good guess:
“Nothing is going to change in that state, fiscally, over the next two or three years. I just don’t see anything positive coming out of there. It’s going to be dead for quite a while.”
Californians just don’t get it, do they? Did they think the circus was going to go on forever? We’ve already given them free money in the recent bailout, and they still want more? It’s like a financial black hole. I wonder if it’s just the government there that is brain-dead, or if the people are actually starting to wake up at all.
They keep doing the same thing (massive spending and nanny state policies), and yet they expect a different result year after year? Isn’t this the text book example of insanity?
When will it be time for California to help out the rest of the country? They can start now by underconsuming and going without all those state programs for a while. Imagine if we had actually bailed them out (more). It would probably happen again next year, and before you know it, it’s the norm; saying that the subsidies need to end would sound the same to the public as saying Social Security needs to end.
