Free market - win
The free market (Dr. Oz show) let us know that arsenic is in apple juice. The government regulation, not only didn’t tell us about it, tried to say it is safe.
The free market again (consumer reports) said it is not safe, there is arsenic in apple juice.

its not good to be on the wrong side of government. they will come after you and eventually push to OUTLAW your criticism against them or their friend’s company, which in this case, it seems there are some apple juice makers who have powerful friends in washington.
Though I’m curious as to why there is arsenic in apple juice. I remember hearing a while back that apple seeds themselves were dangerous if consumed in a large quantity (I don’t remember if they contained arsenic), but it makes me wonder how apple juice is produced.
Arsenic, lead, radiation, it’s in a whole lot of stuff because they’re naturally occuring elements. You’ll find this stuff all around your house.
It’s not the apple seeds though, they have cyanide in them, not arsenic.
Gov regs often lead to businesses doing the bare minimum to meet the reg without incentive to compete on even more purity, meaning gov minimum standards ensure that quality standards end there. As long as you can get the A-quality gov stamp by meeting the regulation you have no incentive to go further and there’s no further means of differentiation.

Five parts per billion? That is not a lot at all. You could probably find worst chemicals and more of it in tap water. This seems like a hit piece on apple juice and other fruit juices. Maybe coca cola is behind it. It also encourages the FDA. These sorts of cases FDA will use to get more involved in other businesses. Next you will be hearing about dawn raids on apple farms, confiscating apples…
I agree - this looks like fear mongering. Possibly there is some law in that state soon to be passed so public needs to be softened up to accept it/not protest against it.

When I was in college I was taking a water treatment systems class (don’t remember the actual name, had to do with treatment systems, chemical levels, waste management, etc. towards engineering). Anyway, you would be surprised about how many chemicals are allowed to a certain degree, especially in tap water since that was the main focus towards public health and management.
I can probably gaurantee that beer, compared to the amount of allowable chemicals, is safer than tap water.
