Tom’s of Maine toothpaste no longer lists peppermint oil as an ingredient…they now list natural flavors instead.
I noticed because they just switched packaging designs. I’m referring to the fluoride free peppermint Tom’s of Maine toothpaste.
Is it any wonder? They are now owned by Colgate.
Best part- natural flavors just means they are derived natural, not nessecarily are..
" A natural flavor is not necessarily more healthful or purer than an artificial one. When almond flavor – benzaldehyde – is derived from natural sources, such as peach and apricot pits, it contains traces of hydrogen cyanide, a deadly poison. Benzaldehyde derived by mixing oil of clove and amyl acetate does not contain any cyanide. Nevertheless, it is legally considered an artificial flavor and sells at a much lower price. Natural and artificial flavors are now manufactured at the same chemical plants, places that few people would associate with Mother Nature."
How does this relate to libertarian philosophy? Not trying to mock you, just an honest question.
Government regulations lead to bigger companies (as their competition is stifled) and more mergers and buyouts, leading to co-opting of hardcore natural product providers for instance…I’m guessing that’s the connection.

Tom’s of Maine has gone downhill in terms of quality and ingredients ever since they got bought out by Colgate. It’s great that Tom’s has better access to big name stores, but ever since they started using crap ingredients and fluoride, I have sent my toothpaste purchasing elsewhere.
they still have a toothpaste without fluoride…but they just now changed the ingredients…they took away peppermint oil and put natural flavors…
my wife noticed it didn’t taste the same…so have I…
I need to find another toothpaste…without fluoride…do you know any that are cheap?
or is it easy to make my own? if so…what can you store it in?
Cyanide comes from plants in trace amounts. You eat some fruits or vegetables and you WILL digest Cyanide.
Do you even need toothpaste? I suggest brushing bare and swishing a solution of water and xylitol in mouth.

other than the fact that its toxic…nothing…
they don’t even bother to use calcium fluoride…they use the cheapest, toxic sodium fluoride…
I use baking soda instead of toothpaste but I have seen some recipes online for toothpaste. I did like Tom’s when I tried it in the past.

The Doctor Within…that’s some eye-opening and borderline “crazy” material. Whether true or not, it’s extremely thought-provoking. Love the chapter about vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Also the chapters about the Hunza, normal life, cancer, digestion, and his rant against germ theory. A good mental workout challenging old assumptions. There’s even some natural-order related material (root microbe symbiosis with plants), so it’s somewhat relevant to anarchists.
I guess by the time you get to be an anti-statist you grow to relish anything that can seriously challenge your world view.

I don’t know any that are cheap, but my toothpaste of choice is Auromere. It’s more expensive than times, but the ingredients are quality ingredients for the most part. Whole Foods and some local natural food stores carry it.
I am currently trying out a JASON brand toothpaste, but am not too impressed by the taste. After I run out, I am going back to Auromere, unless I can find something worthy to try.
