Don’t think I didn’t notice the cheap photoshopping of Charles Atlas.
Involuntary servitude is involuntary servitude. It’s better used doing something productive, like improving your health and discipline, learning self defense, and being trained in using firearms over something unproductive, like “civilian service.”
We can safely assume that in a free market, 99.9% of the labor force will be working in non-military, or civilian, work. Ergo, “civilian service” is NOT contrary to libertarianism.
Oh, and P.S., roughly 100% of the world’s militaries are controlled by nation-states.
“We can safely assume that in a free market, 99.9% of the labor force will be working in non-military, or civilian, work. Ergo, “civilian service” is NOT contrary to libertarianism.”
Depends. Are you working for the state? If you are, the civilian service is contrary. If you aren’t, it is not contrary.
I’ve basically blown my best opportunity to get out now, and evading is not really an option. I’d be spending the next decade being incarcerated while trying to prove to mildly annoyed courts that “male-only service” and “men and women are equal” doesn’t really fit together at all and is therefore immoral in every respect.
I’ll have to try to get it over with as smooth as possible. Taking care of some forest sounds neat, though it certainly has a culturally marxist undertone. [;)]
Ugh. It is a hard life for a slave, who can either try to escape and if caught, get punished harshly, or get forced to do some sort of involuntary solitude.
Join the military like the right-wing types here suggested. You’ll learn how to massacre civilians which is the favorite pastime of both, the nazi, sorry german gov’t and the nazi, sorry, american gov’t.
Seriously though, that sucks. I’m sorry for you. Also, I thought that the germans had learnt something after WWII but seems not.
Horribly wrong.
Stupid joke of the day.
Yet another example of confusing libertarianism with…something else.
Here I am. The right wing nuts are so much fun (and clueless too). I think I once heard something about Spencer, hierarchy and militarism. And Cobden, Bright, pacifism and free trade. I guess they were all marxists or something.
Bottom line : Learn how to kill people. You can always claim “it was self-defense”.
Try work in a Library, do nothing & read Austrian Economics books all day. Do something where there is basically no work, listen to Mises.org lectures all day. Do they check up on you at all? Like can you say you’ll do the service, then slack off and not go etc. Bribe the guy who has to say you are working? Give him all your pay ($3/hr) and you get off scott free? Come on THINK.
You said 5 years. But really, what would prison be like? Is there a concientious objector prison? Minimal security? You could start an Austrian Economics study group [:D]
I really can’t believe how many people here are advocating joining the military. [:S] World War 3 starts… you all going to go die for the State and it’s overlords? Or are you going to choose to go AWOL then?
