What event or series of events would have to occure in order for you to seriously consider leaving the United States? Where would you go?
Economic (ie dollar) collapse or taxes so high they become unbearable. Or they have a draft for war and they draft above age 35.
Canada.
I have already seriously considered that.
Don’t know.
green taxes, and universal health care
Do you think Canada would be safe if the gov labeled you an extremist?
If a seastead were to be successfully created that offered comfortable living and steady pay. I’d go there.
I entertain thoughts of emmigration from time to time, but nothing serious.
I would leave the country if I felt one of the following situations were imminent:
-
National martial law. Something far more tyrannical than the police state we have now.
-
Socialization or communization of all property.
-
Taxes or regulation so onerous that the quality of life dropped to a level far below that to which I am accustomed.
-
Implementation of a draft or other national service. I’m in the military now (I used to be a rank and file republican), but I don’t ever want my children to be drafted as fodder for the state.
I wish I could say that I’d be willing to leave for lesser infringements to my liberty, but the fact is that it would be very hard to uproot my family and leave my property, friends and all that we know behind. I don’t know where I’d go. Perhaps New Zealand? It would be nice if Alaska, Montana or some other or group of states seceded, then I would go there.
If Texas manages to secede.
Other than that there’s no point. It’s the same or worse everywhere else.
Trends. Sooner than later, the Chinese will have more freedoms than the Americans.
It’s pretty funny. The only other country I am a citizen of has universal healthcare and heavy taxation (Spain). I guess I’m screwed.
My other citizenship is from Russia. So my situation is even worse [:D]
If you are wealthy, you can move to Singapore.
